Summary
In Chapter 9, Michele recently received a letter from her father, after a decade of no communication, that she has not yet decided to open. Meanwhile, she treats a patient with a hand injury. He is named Mr. Williams and is obviously suffering from some type of relatively serious mental illness, though he is cooperative and redirectable during treatment. When Michele goes to get a psychiatrist to consult on his condition, she learns that Mr. Williams is a suspect in a murder: an elderly woman had recently been stabbed outside her church. Michele, the psychiatrist, and the police who have arrived at the hospital work together to keep everyone, including Mr. Williams, safe.
