Jacques’ is an establishment owned by Nicodemus Saint Germain where the Court of the Lions spend their time. Celine and Pippa first go here to meet Odette. Celine frequents Jacques’ several times afterwards to meet with Odette, Bastien and the other Court members.

Ursuline Convent, New Orleans, Louisiana, Winter 1872

Celine and Pippa live in the Ursuline Convent when they arrived in New Orleans. The convent is run by the Mother Superior, who watches over the young women. The convent becomes involved in the murder investigation once Anabel, a resident, and William, the gardener are killed. Since Celine was involved in both of these instances, the Mother Superior requests that she move elsewhere.
