Summary
Chapter 1 introduces a goat named Answelica. Answelica enjoys biking the monks of the Order of the Chronicles of Sorrowing. They want to kill her but are too afraid of Answelica’s ghost. The narrator says that this is a good thing, since the goat saves Beatryce’s life.
In Chapter 2, Brother Edik is late to feed Answelica. He got distracted gazing at the sun. He has one lazy eye. When he enters the barn, he finds her curled up beside a little girl.
Brother Edik feels shocked in Chapter 3. He remembers how one time, a year ago, Answelica chased him through the woods. He tripped and fell. Answelica stood on him, then drooled.
