Summary
The next chapter is titled “Chapter XXI: Beauty and the Beast.” The odd sisters watch as the relationship between Belle and the Beast changes. They are watching Belle, the Beast, and Gaston, and they stay at home. They scream out their frustration as it becomes clear Belle and the Beast are falling in love, urged on by the servants. Circe returns, noting at once her sisters seem tired and crazed. The house is a wreck. The sisters' voices are hoarse from all spells they have chanted. Circe reports that she has resolved Tulip's situation. Ruby rushes to gives Circe a necklace. When she puts it on, Circe falls into a deep sleep. The three witches put Circe to bed so they can “continue their fiendish deeds undisturbed” (117). They reassure each other that this is for Circe's own good.
