Summary
The next chapter is titled “Chapter IX: The Statue in the Observatory.” Tulip arrives for another visit with the Prince during Winter Solstice. The castle is brilliantly decorated. Tulip hopes the Prince will begin treating her with kindness as he had when their relationship began. She wants to confide her worries to Nanny, but does not. Nanny pledges nothing will ruin Tulip's happiness. Lumiere immediately ushers them to a room filled with elaborate decorations. She is thrilled with the gesture. The Prince, waiting inside, chastises her for not changing her clothes first. He reminds her she is going to be queen and needs to make better decisions. Tulip is horrified. Lumiere tries to smooth it over, assuring Tulip she is beautiful.
