Summary

In Chapter 3, Rusty and Zoe decided they wanted to be actors, after seeing a traveling troupe perform Shakespeare in the park. When Rusty got home, Tom started to tell him something, but gave up when he saw how excited Rusty was. Having noticed their enthusiasm, Bill Reinking – editor of the local newspaper – approached Rusty and Zoe with a job offer. His wife Cloyce had a part in a play, and she needed the children to help her rehearse. Cloyce was pessimistic about her acting abilities, but Rusty and Zoe encouraged her over the course of regular visits.
