Summary

Part III is titled The Peacekeeper. In Chapter 21, Coriolanus thinks about what led to him being on a train bound for District 12. Dean Highbottom had laid out the evidence against Coriolanus – including stealing the napkin that Lucy Gray's food was wrapped in, the compact that had contained poison, and the handkerchief in the snake tank. While Coriolanus denied giving her the poison, the handkerchief contained his father's initials. Dean Highbottom said Coriolanus was expelled from school, could not claim the Plinth award for university tuition, and could only avoid public disgrace by joining the Peacekeepers. Dean Highbottom reveals that he thought he and Coriolanus's father were friends, but that turned out to be a lie. At home, he told Tigris and the Grandma'am.
