Summary

In Chapter 15, Coriolanus turns to look at the television screen. Though it is difficult to see in the darkness, he recognizes Sejanus inside the arena just as Mrs. Plinth had. He kneels beside Marcus's body, which is now on the ground. Mrs. Plinth explains that they have a practice in District 2 of sprinkling bread crumbs on a dead body so the deceased “has food on his journey” (228). Dr. Gaul calls. Coriolanus says he has no idea why Sejanus is in the arena. Dr. Gaul says they are trying to find Sejanus's mother, prompting Coriolanus to admit she is at his apartment. Dr. Gaul orders Coriolanus and Mrs. Plinth to the arena. On the drive, Mrs. Plinth recalls that Sejanus had reassured her they would be alright when they first arrived at the Capitol.
