Summary

In Chapter 5, Coriolanus returns to the zoo after dinner to find Sejanus is trying to give sandwiches to the tributes. One little girl points out a sign that says “Please don't feed the animals” (70). Sejanus says they are not animals. She says argues they belong in the cage because “They're district” (70). Sejanus says they are “like me.” After Coriolanus gives Lucy Gray a sandwich and eats some of it himself, the other tributes accept food. The only one who refuses is the District 2 tribute assigned to Sejanus. Lucy tells a reporter that she has not eaten since three days earlier, before the reaping. Lucy Gray asks what Coriolanus gets for being a mentor. This is the first time there has been a mentor program, and he is not sure. Coriolanus gives her his handkerchief after she eats, and she captures everyone's attention when...
