Summary

Leaving Tiberius' prison, Evangeline makes her way through the woods. Out of nowhere, Luc intercepts her. He tries to apologize for his behavior, but in such a sly way that it makes Evangeline suspicious. He asks her to attend LaLa's engagement party with him, handing her a flier for the festivities announcing the theme as Mirth, Merriment, and Magic. Evangeline takes this as a sign that the mirth stone must be at House Slaughterwood, where the event is being hosted. Evangeline thanks Luc, and tells him that she will be there, but that she will not go with him.

Returning to Chaos' castle, Evangeline finds Jacks playing chess with a girl. She feels a small flicker of jealousy before Jacks orders her away. Evangeline tells Jacks that she believes the mirth stone is being hidden at LaLa's engagement party. Begrudgingly, Jacks agrees to...
