Chapters 1-5 Summary
In chapter one, Frank Pollard wakes in an alley. The only thing Frank knows for sure is that he is in danger and needs to move on. Frank leaves the alleyway, looking for escape from an unknown pursuer. The wind blows and strange flute-like music sounds from a distance. Frank finds an unlocked car to aide in his escape. As he opens the door a blue light pulses toward him, shattering the window. The blue light flashes, destroying the car around Frank. Frank finally loses control of the vehicle, crashing into a tree.
In chapter two, Bobby Dakota sits in a van, conducting surveillance on Tom Rasmussen, an employee of Decodyne, a computer company. Bobby speaks to Julie on the radio and watches Rasmussen through video security. The husband and wife wonder what Rasmussen is up to when the thief walks...
