Summary

In Chapter 1, angry men yelled threats outside Sasha's apartment. Among many others, they blamed her for Lucas Devry's death.

Sasha had been an influencer. Her project was called ABANDON, a health and beauty program that "helped clients eliminate products that damaged not only their skin but their psyche" (4). Sasha was doing well until Lucas Devry live-streamed his suicide, blaming Sasha in the video for making him take his own life (5).

Sasha called her ex, Blake. She called Cassandra, her "former business partner" and friend (5). Neither one answered. Not even Dyson, her best friend since childhood, answered her calls.

Terrified, and with nowhere to go, she hid in her apartment. Two months later Dyson stopped over, promising to deliver Sasha. Together, he said, they would start a cult (8).
