Summary
In Chapter 64, Leigh feels guilty for Waipo’s somber mood, believing that she misses Feng. Hoping to distract her, Leigh pulls Waipo into the guest bedroom and finds the photograph of the two girls. She shows it to Waipo and asks who they are. When Waipo is unable to say in a way that Leigh can understand, she decides to light it with an incense. This time, instead of colors inverting, the floor gives out and they fall.
In Chapter 65, they are standing in a green field and Leigh sees everything from the box strewn out before her. Wapio touches a crumpled piece of paper and the memory shifts to Leigh’s father’s office as he writes in Chinese. Leigh guesses he is writing to Waipo as he gathers pictures of the family and some of Leigh’s artwork from a drawer...
