Summary

In Chapter 45, Leigh recounts the days since her mother died as Waigong invites her out with him. As they walk, she talks to him in English and tries to figure out if he is Ping. She wonders if they think the marriage is strange as she hears a strange buzzing. Then, she sees the empty shell of a cicada as another one sings. On the way back, Waigong picks a purple flower that they bring back to Waipo.
