Summary
Leigh and her father search for the Taipei apartment in Chapter 13, and her father becomes frustrated. A woman approaches them and Leigh is disappointed to learn her grandmother cannot speak English. Leigh is surprised when her grandmother calls her pretty as she leads them to the apartment. When they meet her grandfather, all Leigh can think of is the color white.
In Chapter 14, Leigh prays for guidance but is not surprised to get nothing in return. She studies Waipo and Waigong. She learns that Waigong has not spoken since his stroke a few years ago, but Leigh struggles to care about anything else. She becomes jealous when her father presents Waipo with her favorite candy. When conversation stops, Leigh brings out the box with the photographs and necklace. Eventually, she gets her father to tell her that her grandparents never sent the box...
