Summary
One afternoon, not long after the narrator and Tita’s encounter in the garden, Tita says that Juliana wishes to speak with the narrator. Tita says that she has not told Juliana of the narrator’s interest in Jeffrey Aspern. Tita says that Juliana never wishes to speak of Aspern. Juliana is again wearing the green shade over her eyes. The narrator believes that Tita has not told Juliana of his interest in Aspern, but he fears that Juliana may have independently guessed his interest. Juliana comments on the fact that the narrator has stopped buying flowers for the garden, and she fears that he will soon leave his lodging there.
