Summary

In Chapter 27, Milo awakes the following morning with a hangover due to drinking heavily at Purdy’s party. He decides to go to Don’s apartment to check on him. Don does not answer the door, so Milo bribes the landlord to let Milo in to Don’s apartment. Don is there and seems angry and depressed. Milo encourages Don to do something meaningful with his life, but Don says that he has no chance of doing so. Milo goes to his office at the university and finds his cubicle empty of equipment. He uses an office phone to call Don; he leaves a voicemail in which he says, “Goodbye, Don. Take Care” (265).
