Summary
In Chapter 18, it is evening. In Milo’s apartment, Milo thinks about his father, Roger Burke. Milo recalls Roger as unreliable but often adept at winning people’s devotion and affection. Milo recalls an evening from when Milo was in his early teens. During that evening, Roger told Milo that Roger and Claudia (Milo’s mother) would likely soon divorce due to their interpersonal turbulence. Milo was quite sad to hear that. Milo looks up Todd Wilkes online and notices that the news media apparently lost interest in him several years ago. In Chapter 19, Milo arrives at a meeting with Purdy, who is running late. Milo waits in a bar with Michael Florida. Michael talks about his sex addiction, and Milo bemoans his own sexless life. Michael then says regretfully that he helped arrange the robbery that took place in college in an effort...
