Summary
Part Four: "Halfmoon" opens with an interlude as the slave mourns the loss of his lost humanity and meaningless life. He develops a relationship with the king's wife as they comfort each other through his cruelty.
In Chapter 29: "Oraya," life continues, but she feels empty without Raihn. Yet, she does not know how to react when Mische says Raihn knows how to love. Oraya struggles to control her new magic and Mische says it is as temperamental as the gods it comes from and recalls losing her own. She also says everyone is broken and that Oraya is better than Vincent, even if she disagrees. Eventually, the two return to Sivrinaj.
In Chapter 30: "Oraya," they find Raihn covered in rebel blood before joining his advisors for dinner. As Oraya realizes Raihn does not trust his inner circle, Cairis announces a celebration...
