Summary
The jury only takes two and a half hours to deliberate. The jury sentences Stéphane to four years in jail, including the year and a quarter that he has already spent imprisoned during the investigation. The fact that his offenses were nonviolent is largely what encourages the jury to give him such a light sentence. Stéphane is also levied extensive fines that he must repay to museums, but it is hundreds of thousands of dollars, not billions, which comes as a sweeping relief.
Stéphane is sent to a prison in the Swiss countryside, where he takes a job and starts earning some money. His father still visits on occasion, though less frequently.
