Chapters 43 - 49 Summary
In Chapter 43, Mark Fein meets with Denny at Victrola Cafe one last time. Mark tells Denny that Denny owes him a substantial amount of money. Mark Fein agrees, giving Denny thirty days to settle his account.
In Chapter 44, Mark Fein tries to convince Denny that dropping his custody claim would make the felony charge go away. Maxwell and Trish want Denny to register as a sex offender. Sex offenders do not get custody of children. The in-laws are squeezing Denny tightly.
Try as he might, Fein is unable to persuade Denny to stop fighting for Zoë. Fein even stoops to telling Denny that Denny would be better able to pursue his racing career dreams with Zoë living with her grandparents full-time.
