Chapters 22 - 28 (Pages 111 - 165) Summary

Zoë's first day of Kindergarten is an eye-opener for Denny and Enzo in Chapter 22. Zoë picks out her own clothes and she gets herself ready to go to school. Zoë insists on Denny kissing her goodbye before the school bus arrives. Zoë tells her rather that she does not want her best friend Jessie to see her kissing her dad. Denny does as his daughter asks, and then marvels at how fast children grow up.

In Chapter 23, Maxwell and Trish convince Denny to allow them to take Eve into their home for her convalescence. They claim that the doctor has given Eve between six and eight months to live and they want to spend as much time with their daughter as possible. Denny hesitates at first but he eventually gives in.
