Summary
In Chapter 5, one of the flying cricket-like creatures picks up a small seed, carries it into the man’s home, and drops it in the ceramic pot that was given to him by the grocer. The man, however, does not notice as he is busy writing a letter to his family.
As the man finishes writing the letter, he folds the paper into an origami bird, and slips it into an envelope along with some of the money he made from his new job. A woman directs the man to a mailing box, which is a small machine that is attached to a balloon. He carefully slips the letter into the box and returns home.
The next two pages contain a sequence of tiny panels that track the growth of a single plant. The plant grows, blooms, wilts, eventually dies, and then...
