Summary

Chapter 2 opens with the man staring longingly at the portrait of his family. As the focus zooms out, the man is shown traveling on a massive ship, which floats across the sea and under an enormous cloud. The next page is filled with a myriad of tiny comic panels, as each square captures an image of a different cloud.

On the ship, there are crowds of people huddled up in blankets and coats. As the man observes the different people and their families, he folds an origami bird. He suddenly turns his gaze upwards to see that the sky is now filled with what looks like little paper birds.

The ship sails towards a town where the man sees two large statues. The statues depict a human figure holding a mouse-like creature and shaking the hand of another human figure, who has a bird-like...
