Through the third person narrator's closeness to Melania's distinct psyche, the author explores the ways how the individual's desire for power and autonomy might dictate her sense of self and understanding of the world around her. In the case of the main character, Melania Trump, agency and authority are elusive. Indeed, Melania's reality in the narrative present is dictated by her husband's potential rise to political power. Melania's external and internal terrains are therefore dependent on her husband's success or failure in his campaign.
