Chapter 9 Summary
Romany rapidly calculates the coordinates needed to jump back in time while Doyle continues to hunt for him. As Doyle locates him, Romany propels both himself and Doyle backwards in time to 1684, where both men crash onto a banquet table. Both men flee, and Doyle realizes it is freezing cold outside. He loses Romany, thanks to the magician's shoes, but finds Sammy, a man from inside the hall sent to look for the two men. Sammy has been bewitched by Romany, and Doyle calms him. Soon, Doyle finds himself at the door of the Brotherhood. They see the chain on his boot and immediately accept him, although warily. Throughout their conversation, they explain to Doyle the meaning of a ka, and Doyle tells them of the time holes, and Doctor Romany. They admit the know of Fikee and Romanelli, and Doyle convinces them...
