Chapter 7 Summary
Doyle awakens to realize he has to visit with Romany if he ever hopes to get home. He takes a day off from the inn, buys a pistol, and arranges it around his neck so that if Romany attempt to torture him, he can commit suicide. He is walking to find Romany when he hears Yesterday whistled again, and as he walks to find the whistler, he hears a gun go off, and in the process of turning, shoots off his own gun, destroying his right ear. He leaves the area, tends to his wounds, and two days later, hears the whistle again. Over the time while mending, he examines the bullet and realizes it is from the 20th century.
