Chapter 2 And Chapter 3 Summary
In Chapter 2, Doyle notices a gypsy caravan following their horse-drawn carriages as they travel to attend Coleridge's lecture. When they arrive at the pub, they discover that Coleridge is to speak a week later. Darrow pays the owner to allow them access to the banquet room, and Doyle convinces Coleridge to speak. Following the event, Darrow asks Doyle to fetch the carriages, but on his way, he is kidnapped. In the last moments of consciousness, he sees the bald headed gypsy he believes Benner spoke of previously. In the gypsy carriage outside, Damnable Richard and Wilbur discuss Wilbur's witnessing of the group's appearance in the field, seemingly by magic, and Wilbur reveals he followed Romany to watch the events unfold. Romany carries the body of Doyle to the carriage, and shortly after, they begin to follow Darrow's group back...
