Summary
“Kentucky Bluegrass” explores the origins and widespread usage of this plant in American lawns. Green again examines the interrelationship between nature and artifice in human lives. He gives the bluegrass only two stars. “The Indianapolis 500” examines yet another American phenomenon in the form of this racing event. The event is rooted in the human experience of competition and a desire to win, but, when watched with a close friend as Green does with his friend Chris Waters, the event becomes merely a wonderfully fun time. The race earns four stars. “Monopoly” takes a close look at the capitalistic nature of the board game and the plagiaristic act which saw Charles Darrow credited with the invention of a game invented by a woman named Elizabeth Magie years earlier.
