Summary
"At the Clinic – Hey Doc": Jacob narrates his interview with the second psychiatrist who, when Jacob tells him of his symptoms, seems particularly interested in knowing what Satan sounds like. Jacob, with Satan’s prompting, describes him as having a deep, nasal voice with a slight accent. Satan taunts him, saying that the psychiatrist only wants to know whether Jacob is suicidal. Jacob tells him, and the psychiatrist, that he is not, telling Doc that he never has been. Jacob realizes that he is not going to get the three days retreat at the St. Francis Psychiatric hospital that he wanted. As the psychiatrist talks about potential medications, Satan rejoices in the response.
