Chapter Twenty-Seven, The Platform Summary
The Mulefa build a platform so Mary can stay in the trees and observe the flow of sraf. It is comfortable and even though the situation is dire, Mary is happy up in the trees. She looks at the sraf through the spyglass. What she knows is that things were happening in multiple worlds three hundred years ago: the trees of the Mulefa began to fail, scientific discoveries were being made in her world, someone invented the alethiometer in Lyra's, and the subtle knife was created.
Mary feels herself lifted out of her body while she relaxes with the sway of the trees. She is born away in the wind that carries the Dust and she is going very fast. She tries to stop, but she has no arms to reach out with and as she is...
