Chapter Twenty-Three, No Way Out Summary
Roger and Lyra meet again. Roger tries to embrace her, but he cannot. He also blames himself for what happened at Bolvangar. He has pretended to talk to her the whole time he has been in the land of the dead and he knew he would see her some day, but worried that she would be a grownup and have no interest in playing with him. He explains what the harpies do, that they wait until the dead are resting, then fly at them and torment them with all of the bad thoughts they ever had or anything stupid ever did.
