Part 4: Chapters 47- 48 Summary

In Chapter 47, Suzanne thinks she has gotten away from Knoll. She is wrong because Knoll quickly finds her and confronts her. No Acquisitor has ever killed another. Suzanne promises to sleep with Knoll, call a truce, and tell him everything. Knoll hesitates for an instant, and is kneed in the groin by Suzanne. She kicks him in the crotch again to assure her escape.

In Chapter 48, Rachel and Paul wake up in a lot of pain. Wayland comments that he never thought things would go so far. Paul wants answers. Wayland says the mine was robbed. The chamber was breached postwar. Wayland does not think the Nazis or Soviets sealed the mine. Someone came in the 1950's and pillaged the cave. While Hitler wanted the Amber Room, Goring wanted it more and Enrich Koch was loyal to Goring. Koch...
