Prologue Summary
The Amber Room by Steve Berry is a tale of intrigue, mystery, and journey of love. Berry sets his tale in the United States, Russian, Italy, and Germany. After the sudden death of her father, Rachel Cutler ventures to find information about the Amber Room, an invaluable piece of art stolen by the Nazis during World War II. Rachel is hunted by Christian Knoll and Suzanne Danzer for her knowledge. Her ex-husband comes to her aide abroad and the two solve the mystery of the Amber Room's location and fall in love again.
As the novel begins, the reader is introduced to Karol Broya, a Russian man being held as a Nazi prisoner of war. The other Russians in Karol's barracks call him Ears because he is the only one that speaks Russian. As the men huddle together in their lice ridden bunks...
