Summary
In Chapter 26, back in 1915, Lili and Eve were put in two different cells, but Eve could see Lili and knew she had the report with the details of the Verdun attack on a piece of paper wrapped around her ring. Eve began making a fuss, giving Lili a chance to get rid of the paper, but one of the German officers saw her swallow the paper. When Lili was searched, officers found five different sets of identification cards in her possession. Because Lili insisted she did not know Eve, Eve was allowed to leave.
Eve went to the meeting house in Tournai where she reported what happened to Lili. She also reported the details of Verdun. Cameron wanted Eve to go back to Folkestone, but Allenton wanted her back in Lille. In private, Cameron tried to convince Eve that Allenton was an...
