Chapters 24, 25 and 26 Summary
Two days before Julia's birthday, whales begin to beach themselves in Chapter 24. Although Julia's science teacher tries to convince the students the changes in the oceans may have nothing to do with the slowing, Julia is doubtful. She has started spending her lunch break in the library. She is surprised when Seth walks into the library during one lunch period. He whispers to Julia that he can no longer take it out in the lunch area with the rest of the kids. Before they leave the library, Seth asks Julia if she wants to come with him that evening to look at the whales. She accepts. They stop at Seth's house to leave their backpacks. Once they get to the shore, they help the rescuers trying to save the whales.
