Summary
In Chapter 7, Ozi trades and scavenges for supplies and food vouchers. Lewis and Rachel are still romantically estranged, and he feels better at work, where he is confidant and skilled. At a meeting to discuss the state of the occupation, the topic of insurgents with 88 tattoos comes up—the same tattoo we remember Freda notice Albert had. It is a code for HH in the alphabet (Heil Hitler) but Lewis says they must focus on feeding the people rather than searching out a few fanatics. We then turn to Stefan, who is being interrogated by Burnham, who reviews his questionnaire and shows him photos of skeletal Jewish prisoners, trying to prompt a reaction from him.
