Chapter 1: October 2003
Eduardo Saverin was one of several hundred Harvard college students gathered as guests of the Phoenix-S K. He iwas dentified a young black man, who looked to be a senior, as a Phoenix member. He introduced himself. The man, Darron recognized Eduardo's last name as "the hedge fund owner." Eduardo and his brother didn't really have a hedge fund but he and his brother invested in one. They bet against the trend in oil futures and earned a $300,000 profit. Eduardo was excited about the possibility of membership in the Phoenix, something that would be important for his future.
