Summary
Our habits define us. They are often unconscious but they are consistent and constant. Habits are not impossible to break but doing so is a challenge. Changing habits makes us feel like we’re giving up part of ourselves. A habit can be defined as, “the intersection of knowledge, skill and desire.” Change of habits has to be motivated by a “higher purpose” and the individual must be willing to let go sacrificing the familiar “now” for the new and improved better “later.” The 7 habits transition us on a Maturity Continuum from “dependence to independence to interdependence.” We all start out dependent and grow to be independent.
