Blackheath
Blackheath is the name of the estate on which this entire novel is set. At first, it is portrayed as the estate belonging to the Hardcastle family. The property is described as being badly maintained because the family no longer lives there. They left the estate when seven-year-old Thomas was murdered.
Blackheath turns out to be an alternative prison. The prisoners are forced to live the same day over and over again. They are challenged with the task of solving Evelyn’s murder, but their memories are wiped clean after one day. If they are able to solve the murder, they will be released from the prison.
The Lake
The lake is the place where Thomas was killed 19 years prior. In the present, Daniel drowns Davies in the lake. Anna attacks and kills Daniel as he is drowning Davies.
