Summary

Chapter 52 continues Day Three with Davies. He wakes to find himself riding in a carriage with two women. He knows this is the moment Gold warned him about when he told him not to get out of the carriage. Davies, however, considers it good luck that he has been returned to Blackheath.

Davies first obtains a shotgun from the stable. He intends to go to the house and shoot the footman when he surprises Rashton. Instead, he is sidetracked by Daniel who calls out to him that the footman has Anna in the graveyard. Davies fears he may make a choice that will result in others being killed. When he learns it is only 9:46, he decides it is safe to follow Daniel to the graveyard. There, he presses the gun to the back of Daniel’s head.
