Summary

In Chapter 78, Devine drops Montgomery at the safe house. At home, he and Speers talk briefly. He mentions her gun. She mentions his gun and then closes the door of her room. Devine looks in Valentine's room. He spots a photo of a couple with a little girl and a baby. Devine wonders if Valentine is the baby. He encounters Valentine on the stairs. Tapshaw says she has just gotten a new funding source. She invites her roommates out for drinks. Speers asks why Tapshaw is not working somewhere important such as NASA. Tapshaw says she got offers but is not interested in spying on people. They talk to Valentine who claims he has no family. Devine gets the impression that Speers and Valentine know each other outside of their roommate relationship.
