Summary
In Chapter 68, Tapshaw says Chilton pulled out of his investment plan. The next morning, everyone on the train is looking at Cowl's house where police are pulling a body from the pool. Devine frantically calls Montgomery's phone but does not get an answer. He leaves the train and grabs a cab. He arrives at Cowl's home at the same time as the detectives, and he receives a text from Montgomery. Officers reveal Chilton's body.
In Chapter 69, Devine learns Chilton was hit in the head and drowned sometime after Devine and Montgomery were at Cowl's house. Devine gives Montgomery the news. They discuss that all the deaths and the illegal money may be connected, but there may be more than one killer.
In Chapter 70, Valentine seems happy to meet Montgomery. Speers seems hostile, but Devine declines to explain. Montgomery tells Tapshaw she has been...
