Summary

In Chapter 57, Montgomery invites Devine to leave with her. He does not have enough money for that, and says leaving would make them look guilty. They talk about their families, pasts, and Montgomery's goals.

In Chapter 58, Montgomery says Cowl also has red and green umbrellas near the pool which are probably part of his signals. They know Montgomery is not the first girl to live with Montgomery. She wonders if Chilton introduced her to Cowl specifically because he needed a new “messenger girl.” Montgomery recalls finding a receipt for Dominique Deveraux, and they assume that was one of Cowl's previous girlfriends. Devine finds an online article that she killed herself.
