Summary
In Chapter 32, Montgomery and Devine talk about themselves. She met Cowl in Italy, and uses the term “boyfriend and girlfriend” to describe their relationship. He reveals that every man on the 6:20 train watches her swim in the morning. She seems embarrassed, having not realized there is a gap in the trees exactly where the train stops. Montgomery wants to spend time with Devine, but he declines to visit at Cowl's house. She says she will text him the address of her SoHo apartment. She makes it seem she is poor and depends on Cowl for support. She walks away as Cowl approaches.
