Chapter 9 Summary

This weekend is the official premiere of the Lakeview Models, and the Fall Fashion show has been altered to include a special appearance by Gwendolyn Rogers who Haven thinks about a lot lately. Casey meets Haven at the show, complaining that Rick's parents will not let her talk to Rick when she calls. When Gwendolyn is introduced, she seems lost and uncomfortable as she climbs to the stage and thanks the audience for having her. The show commences with the models gyrating and prancing about in suggestive apparel that sends a large portion of the audience fleeing. Gwendolyn's head is bowed as if watching is too much for her, and when they bring her back on stage for pictures at the end, she bursts into tears. As her mother leads her away, Gwendolyn laments "it's so awful, they just don't know how awful...
