Summary

In Chapter 29, before Daisy married Hal, her dream for herself was to write about food for a newspaper or magazine. She worked hard physically to pay for her college and hone her cooking skills. She was tired and starved when she went on her first date with Hal. She remembered how her mother had gotten teary when Hal came to pick Daisy up because he represented a better time in her life.

Hal told Daisy on their first date that he was not interested in playing games or wasting each other’s time.
