Summary
In Chapter 11, Rebecca and Christopher adjust to life with Andrew. Rebecca becomes overwhelmed by chores and sleeplessness and worries that Jacob feels neglected. Rebecca remembers visiting Cheryl and Ian in the hospital after their baby girl, Ivy, was born. Rebecca brought balloons which felt inappropriate considering Priscilla’s recent death. Christopher and Rebecca argue about how to proceed with Andrew’s future. Christopher believes they should return Andrew to Cheryl and Ian, offering them Priscilla’s weekly wages to help them care for the additional baby. Rebecca disagrees, calling Christopher’s proposition insulting. Rebecca feels she owes Cheryl and Ian for all Priscilla did for them. In Rebecca’s opinion, caring for Andrew is the best way to repay her debt.
