Summary
In Chapter 14, Finkel describes how the soldiers would continue to go out when they were ordered to do so during their deployments even though they knew that each mission could be their last. He indicates that the soldiers went from trying at war to a life of trying back at home. Adam, Nic, Emory, and Tausolo were all getting up each day and trying again. The only other option was their name mentioned in the Gardner Room. They feel victorious until they hear about one of their comrades, like Danny Holmes, killing himself and realize the war is still trying to kill them as well.
