Summary
In “Louisiana,” Willem, Saskia’s personal assistant, met with Saskia and told her that Dr. T.R. Schmidt, with whom they would be meeting, had been born in New Guinea. Saskia had imagined he was oil man who was born in Texas. Willem continued to inform Saskia that T.R. had inherited a good deal of interest in Brazos RoDuSh, a copper mine on the top of a mountain in Papua, New Guinea.
Since the hurricane would delay the meeting with T.R., Willem decided to visit his father, Hendrick Castelein, who lived near New Orleans. Hendrick was interested in climate change not only because he lived in a place that was below sea level, but also because his family lived through the flood of 1933 in the Netherlands.
Hendrick sent his son inside to look in his attic...
